BTFP Objectives

The following objectives of Broadcasting and Telecommunications Research and Development Fund for Public Interest (BTFP) have been set up as per Section 52 of the Act on Organization to Assign Radio Frequency and to Regulate the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Services B.E. 2553 (2010) and Clause 2 of the Notification of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO Notification) No. 80/2014 Re: Additional Amendment on the Law Concerning Organization to Assign Radio Frequency and to Regulate the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Services. BTFP objectives include:    

  1. To ensure complete and equal availability and accessibility to the broadcasting and telecommunications services, including supporting community development and community services as per Section 51.
  2. To promote and support communication resources development, research and development regarding broadcasting and telecommunications services, including updating latest trends on frequency spectrum technology, information technology and technology for aiding the disabled, the elderly and the underprivileged as well as current trends in telecommunication industry and ongoing industry.    
  3. To promote and support personnel development in relation to broadcasting and telecommunications services and information technology, including the operation of organizations responsible for setting up professional ethics standard as per the law concerning broadcasting and television services.  
  4. To support, promote and ensure consumer protection in relation to broadcasting and telecommunications services.
  5. To ensure compliance with the law concerning Safe and Creative Media Development Fund through appropriation of BTFP fund for Safe and Creative Media Development Fund.  
  6. To provide budget supports by allowing the Ministry of Finance to borrow from BTFP fund for the purpose of conducting government operations for public interest.
